Professional Bonsai Soil - 10 LBS (5 Quarts)

Description

The most important thing for the health of your bonsai tree is using a good bonsai soil.

A high quality bonsai soil will prevent you from both over watering and under watering.

It will help get the perfect amount of air and nutrients to the roots of your bonsai tree, and drastically slows down soil compaction that can give your tree the dreaded root-rot!

Our unique bonsai soil is produced by expanding and vitrifying select shale in a rotary kiln at temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees.

This process makes the soil sterile and environmentally inert.

It's a natural non-toxic, highly absorptive ceramic granule with a generally neutral PH. It is dimensionally stable and will not degrade like other amending products.

A good bonsai soil profile is approximately 25% water, 25% air and 50% solid particulate matter. When soils are compacted, an imbalance occurs. Solid particles are pressed together, and water and air are squeezed out.

With less pore space, soils become too dense for the movement of air, water and nutrients, and the favorable environment for the beneficial microbial activity necessary in a healthy growing medium, is lost.

Our professional bonsai soil absorbs excess water during rain or watering, then slowly releases this excess water as the soil dries acting in effect like a time release capsule.

This is the soil we recommend you upgrade to during your next repotting.

Shipping a living, breathing tree is no easy task...thankfully, we've got this part nailed.

Order Confirmation:

As soon as you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation email. This means that we have received your order in our system, and working diligently on our end to get your new tree out to you. As soon as we receive your order, we automatically confirm that the item is in stock, is perfectly healthy, and available for shipment. If your item(s) are available for immediate shipment, we will process the charges and submit the order for shipment.

Tracking:

When ordering, you will be prompted to provide a valid email address. Once shipped, we will provide you with a tracking number to that address shortly after shipment (typically within 12-24 hours)

Timing:

If your order is placed after 1:00 EDT time on Tuesday, your order will generally be shipped the following Monday with the following exception: If your order is being delivered to an address east of the Mississippi, we will work to deliver your live tree by the end of the current week.

NOTE: We will hold your order if there is a storm that will delay delivery!

This is for the health of the tree.  No exceptions.

If ordering as a gift for a specific delivery date, please contact us for confirmation of delivery date.

Damages

We take care to pack our trees and supplies to be as safe and secure as possible while they're in transit.  Sometimes, a box could get dropped or crushed.  If that happens, your tree is probably fine!  A few ruffled leaves, or broken twigs is just fine for the tree, and can actually help it develop a thicker trunk.

Broken pots, or the tree being broken in half, is not good.  While this rarely happens, we'll make sure to replace it if it happens to you.

Holding Shipments

We are able to hold shipments / ship later with a comment on the order. In the checkout process there is a box where you can "add a note".

We generally ship most orders with live trees to arrive before the end of the current week (including Saturday) providing that we receive your order prior to 1:00 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday.

If you're not satisfied with your tree for any reason, contact us and we'll provide you with a replacement, exchange or full refund.

Occasionally there are small variations in the products as these are live trees, which may slightly differ from the photos.  We regularly prune all trees as part of their care, and trees look different in different seasons.

For example, you shouldn't expect a maple tree to have leaves in the winter.
